Primetals upgrades ladle furnace at Tonggang

Primetals Technologies has completed a ladle furnace upgrade at Tonghua Iron and Steel (Tonggang) in Jilin Province, China.
The project included the manufacture and installation of three-phase electrode arms and commissioning services.
Primetals highlighted that the copper-clad electrode arms help increase power output, improve clamping precision and maximise service life. Furthermore, they outlined that they also reduce energy consumption.
Electrode arms are a critical component of the ladle furnace, transmitting electrical energy, regulating the arc and ensuring precise electrode clamping.
The company placed its first order for a ladle furnace with Primetals 20 years ago.
Tonggang was established in 1958 and is the largest state-owned steel enterprise in Jilin Province.
