AGSI Make Approach for Speciality Steel
Arabian Gulf Steel Industries (AGSI) is among one of the parties to have submitted a proposal to take control of Speciality Steels UK (SSUK).
SSUK is Britain’s third-largest steel producer and has been under the control of the Official Receiver since August 2025 after falling into liquidation.
The producer operates sites in Rotherham and Stockbridge and employed almost 1,500 members of staff before the summer of last year.
AGSI has pledged to produce 5t of green steel by 2030, while also reducing CO₂ emissions by 95% (when compared to traditional steelmaking processes).
Former owner and steel tycoon, Sanjeev Gupta, has also submitted a proposal after securing backing from third parties, including BlackRock.
