HYUNDAI-POSCO Louisiana Steel Chooses SMS Group Mills for US Facility
HYUNDAI-POSCO Louisiana Steel (HPLS) has commissioned SMS group to supply all the rolling mills for a new greenfield plant in Donaldsonville, US.
The order covers a hot strip mill and a pickling line tandem cold mill, including an acid regeneration plant and AMOVA logistics solutions.
Steffan Krausa, sales director at SMS group, said: “With this order, SMS group underscores its leading position as an expert and preferred supplier of integrated solutions for large rolling mills in North America.
“The new investment in Louisiana secures the local supply of high-quality automotive steel sheet to the US plants for major automakers, including Hyundai Motor Group.”
The mills will be equipped with top-end automation and process control systems, designed for the production of premium automation grades.
The new plant is set to have a total capacity of 2.8Mt of steel products and will go live in 2029.
