Outokumpu Supply Chain Receives ‘A’ Grade for Sustainability

Outokumpu has earned an ‘A’ score in the CDP’s Supplier Engagement Assessment for its work to advance responsible and low-carbon value chains.
The assessment evaluates companies on governance, target setting, emissions management and engagement with suppliers.
Pia Lindqvist, head of supplier sustainability at Outokumpu, said: “We are proud to be recognised by CDP for our supplier engagement leadership. Much of this work started originally from zero over five years ago, and the best feedback we receive is that we have helped suppliers strengthen their own sustainability practices. This is how real change happens across value chains.”
Over the last five years, Outokumpu has strengthened its due diligence processes, developed a Supplier Code of Conduct now covering 93% of high-impact suppliers, and rolled out a sustainability self-assessment program with EcoVadis.
Outokumpu has also established Scope 3 emissions reporting processes and continues to expand supplier-specific emissions data.
Scope 3 emissions represent a majority of Outokumpu’s total footprint, and raw materials play a central role in reducing emission intensity, with high recycled content and the search for new low‑emission primary raw materials remaining key drivers of this progress.
