GSM Tanzania Selects Danieli for Rebar and Wirerod Mill
GSM Tanzania has awarded Danieli a contract for the supply of a 300kt/year rebar and wirerod mill, which will be installed at the Kilimanjaro Industrial Park.
The new mill will process 150mm x 150mm billets at a rate of up to 50t/hr, allowing the plant to produce deformed reinforcing bars ranging from 8mm to 32mm and smooth wirerod between 5.5 mm and 6.5 mm.
Danieli highlighted that the project represents a strategic investment aimed at strengthening GSM’s position in the regional steel market while supporting the country’s demand for construction products.
Danieli’s scope of supply includes the complete rolling mill technology package, which includes 14 cartridge-type GCC stands, a BGV 10-pass finishing block and an in-line quenching and tempering system.
The wirerod line will also be equipped with an in-line QTR system and Danieli’s patented oil-film bearing laying head.
The entire plant will be controlled by Danieli Automation systems.
No official startup date for the plant has been provided as of now.
